Both pitchers tossed solid 9 hit complete games, but it was the Chicago White Sox who came out victorious when a 1 out Bucky Weaver double gave Joe Jackson the opportunity to drive in the game’s only run the following plate appearance with a base hit to left. Despite suspicions arising thanks to 4 errors on the White Sox, Eddie Cicotte pitched superbly despite committing 2 of the errors himself. He earns the game ball throwing 9 innings with 9 hits, no runs scored, and 3 strikeouts. Had Cincinnati managed more than singles they may have gotten the opportunity to score a run and send the game into extra innings, but despite the hits and Chicago’s willingness to make mistakes they could not get a runner to the plate.
